IDB Masters Scholarships for Developing Countries’ Students, 2018

Islamic Development Bank (IDB) is offering master’s scholarships in Science, Engineering, Technology, Medical Sciences, Statistics, Demography, Econometrics and Operational Research and other related fields. Applicants must be a citizen of any of an eligible member country.
The objective of the M.Sc. is to assist eligible countries in the development of their human resources in science and technology that are both relevant and necessary for their socio-economic development.
The purpose of the Bank is to foster the economic development and social progress of member countries and Muslim communities individually as well as jointly in accordance with the principles of Shari’ah i.e., Islamic Law.
Applicant’s language proficiency must be supported by a document or certificate, e.g., for English, by a recognized language certificate such as TOEFL or passed required level test conducted such as by British Council or equivalent system in French).

  7. Be medically fit and be willing to undergo medical tests after selection.
  8. Applicants for Statistics, Demography and related disciplines such as Applied Statistics, Demography and Econometrics must meet the following requirements in addition to the above:

68 Erasmus Mundus JMD Scholarships for IMETE Joint Master Degree Programme, 2018

68 Erasmus Mundus JMD scholarships are available on a competitive basis. The scholarships will be available for three intakes over a period of three years. There are two types of scholarships, depending on whether your country of residence is a partner or programme country.
The International Master of Science in Environmental Technology and Engineering (IMETE) is a Joint Master Degree Programme, taught in English, bringing together students and scholars from all over the world.

Entrance Requirements: The International Master in Environmental Technology and Engineering (IMETE) has the following admission requirements:
  1. Proof that the applicant has successfully accomplished a first degree of higher education equivalent to a B.Sc. degree (equivalent to 180 credit points according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS)) with a good final mark as shown by a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least B/B+ (US System) or a classification of at least 2nd upper (UK system), in one of the following subjects: pure or applied sciences (e.g., chemistry, biology, geology, civil or agricultural engineering, environmental or agricultural sciences, etc.). Sufficient academic knowledge of mathematics, physics, and chemistry is an absolute requirement.
Note A.1 Applications may already be submitted before the first degree of higher education (usually B.Sc.) has been successfully finished if at least 120 ECTS of the programme have been successfully completed. If the applicant meets all of the other admission requirements, admission can be granted on the condition that the first degree of higher education must be successfully finished by 15 July proceeding to the start year of the programme.

Note B.1 Applicants who are required to provide proof of English language proficiency who do not yet possess the results of the test can apply for admission and scholarship now, however, the ultimate deadline that the test result should be in our possession is 1 April 2018. Those applicants will also be taken into consideration for scholarship award and can be selected for a scholarship or placed on the reserve list. If no sufficient English test results have been received by 1 April 2018, the candidate will no longer be eligible for a scholarship.

Foundation of the Republic of Austria is pleased to offer scholarships to international students of high academic ability for 2018 entry. Scholarships are available for students to pursue research on their diploma or master thesis or their dissertation at scientific research institutions in Austria (e.g. universities, Austrian Academy of Sciences, National Library, National Archive).

    • Monthly scholarship installment: 940 EUR
    • Accident and health insurance: if necessary, the OeAD (Austrian Agency for International Cooperation in Education and Research) will effect an accident and health insurance. The costs for the insurance have to be covered from the scholarship.
    • The OeAD provides scholarship holders with accommodation (student dormitory or apartment). Monthly costs: 220 to 470 EUR (depending on the level of comfort requested by the scholarship holder). The scholarship holder has to pay an administrative fee of 18 EUR/month to the OeAD for the provision of accommodation. The costs for the accommodation have to be covered from the scholarship.
    • Applicants from countries which are neither members of the EU nor members of EFTA, EEA or OECD can be granted a travel allowance of up to max. 500 EUR in addition to the scholarship.

Tuition Fee Waiver Scholarships for International Students at University of Eastern Finland, 2018

The University of Eastern Finland is awarding tuition fee waiver scholarships for international students. A generous scholarship scheme covers the tuition fee either in full or partially for students who are required to pay tuition.
The Master’s Degree Programme in Information Technology (IMPIT) offers an international Master’s degree in IT at European standards in two years. The aim is that most students are employed by a Finnish ICT company when they graduate.
The University of Eastern Finland is a university in Finland with three campuses in Joensuu, Kuopio, and Savonlinna. It was formed in 2010 by a merger of two previously independent universities.

Scholarship Description:

Applications close: January 31, 2018
Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing master’s degree programme.
Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded in the field of Information Technology (IMPIT).
Scholarship Award: Either 100% or 80% of annual tuition
Number of Scholarships: Waiver is given to 80% of those accepted students who are required to pay the tuition.
Scholarship can be taken in Finland

Eligibility for the Scholarship:

Eligible Countries: International students (except EU/EEA) can apply.
Entrance Requirements:
  • Students who are required to pay the tuition fee.
  • BSc. degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Communications Engineering or equivalent degree corresponding at least three years of full-time higher education academic studies.
English Language Requirements:
  • TOEFL PBT/iBT: 580/90, IELTS overall 6.5, PTE: 59
  • TOEFL, IELTS and PTE certificates are valid for two years from the day they are issued and they have to be valid throughout the entire application period.

Application Procedure:

Each application must include the following documents
  • Official transcript of university records from the home university in English, or an officially certified translation of it.
  • A certified copy of BSc. diploma or equivalent (OR a statement of expected graduation, if the BSc degree has not been completed yet, OR a provisional BSc certificate)
  • Motivation letter
  • An introductory video file of an applicant uploaded into a video-streaming service such as youtube/vimeo/tudou. Link (URL) to the video has to be included into the application form. The maximum duration of a video is 2 minutes. The video should include the introduction, educational background and possible merits of the applicant. The video must be reachable from 31.1.2018 – 31.3.2018.
  • Letter of recommendation from a local academic authority, preferably known to the UEF
  • Generally recognized English language certificate mailed directly from the test administrator (in case of IELTS, also a copy of the result sheet is accepted) OR a certificate stating language skills, if one of the specific conditions for language skills is fulfilled (mentioned at the bottom of this page)
  • Passport copy/other documents of identification
  • Optionally, an example of a link to own individual work in English (research paper, report, essay, art, literature review, documented software, and similar). This should be translated into English or Finnish.

Utrecht University Scholarships for International Students in Netherlands, 2018-2019

Applications are invited for Utrecht University Scholarships for the academic year 2018-2019. Approximately 20-25 scholarships are available for pursuing bachelor or master degree programme at the Utrecht University.
The Utrecht Excellence Scholarship offers a number of highly talented prospective students the opportunity to pursue a degree in a selected number of fields at Utrecht University.
Utrecht University is a university in Utrecht, the Netherlands. It is one of the oldest universities in the Netherlands and one of the largest in Europe.
Since English is the official language at UCU, applicants are required to demonstrate proof of proficiency.

Scholarship Description:  

  • Application deadline: February 1 , 2017
  • Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing bachelor or master degree programme.
  • Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded for the study the subjects offered by the university.
  • Scholarship Award: The Utrecht Excellence scholarship can be awarded as:

    • Tuition fees plus 11.000 euro living expenses
    As the grant is not automatically a full scholarship, it may be necessary to find additional funding to be able to finance your studies and stay completely. Students requiring a residence permit in the Netherlands must prove to the IND (Immigration and Naturalisation Office) that they have sufficient financial means.

  • Entrance Requirements: To be eligible for an Utrecht Excellence Scholarship, you must
    • Belong to the top 10% of your graduating class
    • Hold a non-EU/EEA passport and not be eligible for support under the Dutch system of study grants and loans
    • Have completed your secondary school and/or Bachelor degree outside the Netherlands
    • Have applied for an international master’s programme with a start date of September 1, 2018. Not all programmes participate, Tuition fees and financial support to see if the Utrecht Excellence Scholarship is mentioned as a scholarship opportunity.
  • English Language Requirements: Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there.

Application Procedure:

After submitting an application for the Master’s programme, non-EU/EEA students will have the option to submit an application for an Utrecht Excellence Scholarship.
How to Apply: You will need to upload the following document:
  • Proof of belonging to the top 10% of your graduating class:
    an official document issued by your university that proves you are among the top 10% of your graduating class, such as a statement signed and stamped by your University, a reference letter, a class ranking certificate, etc.
Please note that students starting their programme in February are not eligible for the Utrecht Excellence Scholarships.
  • Submit an application for a Master’s programme; if you do not do this first, your UES application will simply be deleted.
  • After submitting an application for a Master’s programme, you can go to Osiris Online Application.
  • Log in with your Osiris username and password.
  • Click on the link ‘New application’.
  • Answer the UES questions and upload the requested document(s).
  • Submit your application.
As the scholarship deadline is February 1, you will not be informed whether you have been awarded the scholarship prior to this date and not before you have been (un)conditionally admitted to the programme.

ETH Excellence Master Scholarship Programme for International Students in Switzerland, 2018

The ETH Zurich is offering ETH excellence scholarship programme to support excellent students (national and international) wishing to pursue a Master’s degree at ETH. Two types of scholarship programmes are available: first is Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Programme (ESOP) and second one is master scholarship Programme (MSP).

ETH Zurich is a science, technology, engineering and mathematics university in the city of Zürich, Switzerland.
Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there.

Scholarship Description:

  • Application deadline: December 15, 2017
  • Course Level: Scholarship is available for pursuing master’s degree level at ETH Zurich.
  • Study Subject: Scholarship is awarded to learn any of the subjects offered by the university.
  • Scholarship Award: 
    • The Excellence Scholarship consists of a grant covering living and study expenses (CHF 11,000 per semester) as well as a tuition fee waiver. The scholarship begins when the student commences his or her Master’s degree and is awarded for the regular duration of the Master’s programme (three or four semesters). It is awarded independently of the scholarship holder’s financial situation.
    • The Master Scholarship consists of a partial stipend for living and study expenses (CHF 6,000 per semester) as well as a tuition fee waiver. The department can additionally provide a scholarship of CHF 1,500 – 3,000 per semester or offer an assistantship from the second semester onwards (with a payment of CHF 600 per month).
    • The scholarship begins when the student commences his or her Master’s degree and is awarded for the regular duration of the Master’s programme (three or four semesters). It is awarded independently of the scholarship holder’s financial situation. The Master Scholarship Programme requires a financial contribution from the scholarship holder.
  • Number of Scholarships: Numbers are not given.
  • Nationality: Swiss and international
  • Scholarship can be taken in Switzerland

Eligibility for the Scholarship:

  • Eligible Countries: December 15, 2017
  • Entrance Requirements:
    • The scholarship programmes are open to excellent students both from the ETH and from other universities (national and international) wishing to pursue their Master’s degree at ETH Zurich.
    • The prerequisite is a very good result in their Bachelor’s. Students must belong to the best 10 percent of their Bachelor’s programme.
  • English Language Requirements:  Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there.

Application Procedure:

All information provided in the application must be complete and correct. The pre-proposal for the Master’s thesis must be developed by yourself and use established scientific citation practice.
