Masters Scholarships for International Students at Karolinska Institute in Sweden, 2018

Karolinska Institute is offering Global Master’s Scholarships for international students. These scholarships will cover the tuition fee for studies at master’s level.
Karolinska Institute is one of the world’s foremost medical universities. Their vision is to make a significant contribution to the improvement of human health; our mission is to conduct research and education and to interact with the community.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate proficiency in English by means of an internationally recognized test, e. g. TOEFL, IELTS or the equivalent.
Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing master’s degree program.
Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded in the field of Global Health; Bioentrepreneurship; Biomedicine; Public Health Sciences; Health Informatics; Molecular Techniques in Life Science and Toxicology.
Scholarship Award: The Karolinska Institute Global Master’s Scholarships cover the tuition fee cost, not living expenses, and only for studies at Master’s level.
Scholarship can be taken in the Sweden
Eligibility: These scholarships are awarded to excellent students who have been admitted to KI’s Global Master’s Programmes starting autumn 2017
  • Have been awarded a Bachelor’s degree (equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen) from an internationally recognized university.
  • Be able to demonstrate proficiency in English by means of an internationally recognized test, e. g. TOEFL, IELTS or the equivalent.
Nationality: These scholarships are available for both Swedish and international students.

Entry Requirement: A bachelor’s degree equivalent to a Swedish kandidatexamen, (180 higher education credits) from an internationally recognised university.
English Language Requirement: In order to be eligible for university studies in Sweden, a student must demonstrate that they meet the English requirements for the course or programme.
How to Apply: Applicants should fill out the scholarship form and submit the application together with other documents to University Admissions Sweden.  Required documentation for all master’s applicants In order to complete admissions application, students must provide the following documents after submitting their online application.  Please do not submit documents that are not listed here, unless they are required by the university to which are applying.
  •  Certificates and diplomas of your completed bachelor’s degree from an internationally recognised higher education institution (university or university college).
  •  Transcripts of completed courses and grades for each semester (including course list) from your bachelor’s programme.
  • Proof of English language skills
  • Proof that student meet the specific entry requirements (university’s website will have information regarding the specific entry requirements for the course or programme they have applied to, be sure to check there for what is required).
  • In order to speed up the processing of application, University Admissions Sweden requires a copy of the page in your passport with your personal data and photograph, or some other identification document.

British Council Extraordinary British Millions of Pounds Graduate Scholarship in UK, 2018

The British Embassy Cultural and Education Division, together with 31 UK universities is inviting applications for Extraordinary British Millions of Pounds Scholarship for the year 2018. Chinese students are eligible to apply for this scholarship programme.
The aim of scholarships is to provide financial help to the Chinese students.
The British Council is a British organization specializing in international cultural and educational opportunities. It works in over 100 countries. The British Council is a charity registered in England and Wales and Scotland and is governed by Royal Charter.

Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships in Canada, 2018

The Government of Canada launched the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) program in 2008 to strengthen Canada’s ability to attract and retain world-class doctoral students and establish Canada as a global centre of excellence in research and higher learning. Vanier Scholars demonstrate leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in graduate studies in the social sciences and/or humanities, natural sciences and/or engineering and health.
Up to 167 scholarships are awarded annually;
A total of up to 500 scholarships are active at any time.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing Ph.D. level at Canadian universities.
Study Subject(s): Scholarships are provided to study any one of the courses offered by the Canadian universities.

Scholarship can be taken in Canada
Eligibility: Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada and foreign citizens are eligible to be nominated for a Vanier CGS.
To be considered for a Vanier CGS, you must:
  • be nominated by only one Canadian institution, which must have received a Vanier CGS quota;
  • be pursuing your first doctoral degree (including joint undergraduate/graduate research program such as: MD/PhD, DVM/PhD, JD/PhD – if it has a demonstrated and significant research component). Note that only the PhD portion of a combined degree is eligible for funding;
  • intend to pursue, in the summer semester or the academic year following the announcement of results, full-time doctoral (or a joint graduate program such as: MD/PhD, DVM/PhD, JD/PhD) studies and research at the nominating institution; Note that only the PhD portion of a combined degree is eligible for funding;
  • not have completed more than 20 months of doctoral studies as of May 1, 2018 (see calculating months of doctoral studies below);
  • have achieved a first-class average, as determined by your institution, in each of the last two years of full-time study or equivalent. Candidates are encouraged to contact the institution for its definition of a first-class average, and
  • must not hold, or have held, a doctoral-level scholarship or fellowship from CIHR, NSERC or SSHRC to undertake or complete a doctoral degree.

Chevening UK Government Scholarships for International Students 2018-2019

Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations offer Chevening scholarships for master degree programmes. International applicants are eligible to apply.
Chevening offers a unique opportunity for future leaders, influencers, and decision-makers from all over the world to develop professionally and academically, network extensively, experience UK culture, and build lasting positive relationships with the UK.
Chevening is the UK government’s international awards scheme aimed at developing global leaders since 1983. Funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations, Chevening offers two types of award – Chevening Scholarships and Chevening Fellowships – the recipients of which are personally selected by British Embassies and High Commissions throughout the world.
Applicants must have an undergraduate degree that will enable you to gain entry to a postgraduate programme at a UK university. This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree in the UK.
Course Level: The programme provides full or part funding for full-time courses at postgraduate level, normally a one-year Master’s degree at any UK University.
Study Subject(s): Scholarships are provided to study any subject at any UK University.
Scholarship Provider: Fully-funded
Scholarship can be taken in the UK
Eligibility: To be eligible for a Chevening Award you must:
  • Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country
  • Return to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after your award has ended
  • Have an undergraduate degree that will enable you to gain entry onto a postgraduate programme at a UK university. This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree in the UK.
  • Have at least two years’ work experience (this may be up to five years for fellowship programmes, so please refer to your country page for further details)
  • Apply to three different eligible UK university courses and have received an unconditional offer from one of these choices by 12 July 2018
  • Meet the Chevening English language requirement by 12 July 2018
You are not eligible for a Chevening Award if you:
  • Hold British or dual British citizenship (unless you are a citizen of a British Overseas Territory or hold BN(O) and are applying from Hong Kong)
  • Are an employee, a former employee, or relative of an employee (since July 2015) of Her Majesty’s Government (including British Embassies/High Commissions, the Department for International Development, the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy, Department for International Trade, the Ministry of Defence and the Home Office), the British Council, or a staff member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities. Employees, former employees, or relatives of an employee (since July 2015) of Chevening Partner organisations are eligible to apply, but cannot receive a Chevening/Partner Award from the organisation for which they work, previously worked, or are affiliated with through relatives.
  • (Note: Immediate relatives are defined as parents or step-parents, siblings or step-siblings, children or step-children, spouse, civil partner or unmarried partner (where the couple have been in a relationship akin to marriage or civil partnership for at least two years)
  • Have previously studied in the UK with funding from a UK Government-funded scholarship. However, if you have previously studied under a UK Government-funded scholarship (including Chevening), you may be eligible to apply for a Chevening Fellowship five years after completion of your initial UK Government-funded scholarship.

College Admission Requirement

English Language Requirements: Applicants are free to take tests more than once in order to meet the Chevening English language requirement. Please note that Chevening does not pay for costs associated with English language testing. You are responsible for booking and paying for costs associated with these tests.
Chevening accepts English language tests from five providers:
  • Academic IELTS
  • Pearson PTE Academic
  • TOEFL iBT
  • Cambridge English: Advanced (CEA)
  • Trinity ISE II (B2)
The English language test must be taken from one of these providers on or after 1 October 2015. If you do not already have an existing eligible test certificate, it is your responsibility to ensure that you have booked a test date so that you can obtain the required results.
Applicants are not permitted to take pre-sessional courses to fulfil the Chevening English language requirement. You will be required to take one of the approved English language tests unless you fall into one of the exempt categories.
Applicants are not permitted to enrol on pre-sessional courses to fulfil their university’s English language requirement or any other conditions of a university offer. Any offer from a university with a requirement to undertake a pre-sessional course will be considered conditional.
