Scholarships for Developing Countries at University of Reading in UK, 2017

The University of Reading is inviting applications for students of India and other developing countries. These scholarships are available for pursuing full-time MPhil/PhD programme or Taught Masters programme in September 2017.
The Felix Trustees have indicated that one scholarship available to students from ‘developing countries’ is aimed primarily at candidates from Africa and excludes “all Western countries, including most of the European Community, and China / Taiwan”.
The University of Reading is a public university located in Reading, Berkshire, United Kingdom. It was established in 1892 as University College, Reading and received its Royal Charter in 1926 from King George V. It was the only university to receive its charter between the two world wars and is, therefore, a red brick university.
Applicants whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.
Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing full-time MPhil/PhD programme or Taught Masters programme.
Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded to study the subjects offered by the university.
Scholarship Award: These scholarships cover tuition fees at the international rate and provide a stipend (maintenance grant) to cover living expenses (the current level of which is £13,730). They also provide generous allowances for clothes, books and a return flight home. The awards are available (depending on eligibility) for up to 3 years.

Eligibility:
  • Students must demonstrate financial need
  • Students must possess at least a first-class honours degree from a University or comparable institution
  • Students must not hold a degree from a University outside your home country
  • Students must not have studies outside your home country for one year or more
  • Candidates are expected by the Trust to return to work in their home country following their study
  • Students must have been accepted for admission to the University by 30 January 2017 to be considered for shortlisting. They should therefore apply for admission at the earliest opportunity. Candidates who have an academic condition on their offer of admission (such as completion of a qualification they are currently working towards) will need to successfully meet that condition by the short-listing stage (w/c 27 March 2017) in order to be considered for this year’s competition; they should otherwise consider applying to the competition next year.
Nationality: Citizens of India and other developing countries can apply for these scholarships.

Entrance Requirement: Applicants are normally required to have a good undergraduate honours degree (or equivalent from a University outside the UK). If they have other qualifications and at least two years of relevant work experience then you may also be eligible to apply.   • Eligible candidates will then be considered for nomination by their academic School / Department at Stage One. If you are successful in being nominated, you will receive a request on Wednesday 8 March 2017 asking you to complete a full Felix application form. This must be returned by Wednesday 15 March 2017.
  • Nominees will then be considered for shortlisting by the University level panel at the beginning of April. If you are shortlisted by the University, you will be notified. Victoria Doctoral Scholarships for New Zealand and International Students, 2017-2018

The Victoria University of Wellington is offering 35 doctoral scholarships for New Zealand and international students. These scholarships are available for pursuing doctoral or PhD degree programme.
University’s aim is to provide a learning environment to help students achieve their full potential, but they will also provide support if they have difficulties.
Victoria University has a tradition of fostering strong global links in teaching and research and programmes of national significance and international quality.
Victoria’s English language requirements are strict and not negotiable. If student’s first language is not English, they must provide evidence of English proficiency before they will be accepted as a PhD candidate.

  • Scotiabank International Student Awards: The Scotiabank International Awards are to support students upon entrance to Trent University from countries in which Scotiabank operates internationally, and are based upon academic excellence, extra-curricular involvement and leadership.
Entrance Scholarships (automatic)
  • Trent University Entrance Scholarships: All students, Canadian and International, applying to Trent will be automatically considered for Trent University Entrance Scholarships, awarded for academic excellence. Students on a Year/Term Study Abroad at Trent are not eligible for Entrance Scholarship. ESL students are eligible for consideration, however the scholarship is tenable for undergraduate studies (and not for ESL).
  • IB Entrance Scholarships: All international students applying for admission to Trent on the basis of IB diploma will be automatically considered for an IB Entrance Scholarship. To qualify for a $1,000 IB Entrance Scholarship, students must complete an IB diploma with a minimum IB score of 28. The scholarship can be combined with a Trent University Entrance Scholarship and Trent International Global Citizen Scholarships and Awards.

College Admission Requirement
Entrance Requirement: All students are required to have the following for admission to all programs

  • A record of your most recent (last 2 years) extra-curricular activities, community service, and leadership, and an essay indicating how your service or leadership has been a meaningful part of your education. The committee is most interested in specific examples of your accomplishments (maximum 2 pages for both parts).
  • An essay discussing a local, national or international issue and its personal importance to you (maximum 1 page; 300-500 words).
  • Three letters of reference, including at least two from teachers/former teachers. There is no special reference form, however, the letter must address the following points: the applicant’s academic work and intellectual qualities, involvement in extra-curricular activities and community events, leadership skills and character.
  • Documentation of Income: Official statement of annual salary from parent(s) employer(s) on company letterhead or most recent statement of income tax returns from parent(s).

15 Overseas Research Scholarships at Newcastle University in UK, 2017-2018


Newcastle University’s aim is to be a world-class research-intensive university and deliver teaching and facilitate learning of the highest quality.
The university is governed by a number of statutory bodies. The Executive Board comprises the senior management team that has oversight of the day-to-day running of the University.

Applicants have been assessed as international/overseas for fees purposes, and are wholly or partially self-financing. Applicants need a good level of English language to study at Newcastle University. They’ll need to provide a recognised English language test or qualification unless you’re exempt. This is usually a test score of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent, but requirements can vary between IELTS 6.0 to 8.0. All students need at least 5.5 in each sub-skill, or equivalent.

Eligibility:
  • Applicants must hold an offer of a study place and begin undergraduate studies in September 2017.
  • The scholarships will be awarded automatically – no application is required in the first or any subsequent years.
  • The scholarships will be awarded unconditionally in the first year of study. You can also receive this in each subsequent year of study, subject to achieving 60% or above in the previous academic year. This excludes any years in industry or study abroad periods.
  • The scholarship can be awarded in conjunction with other University of Sheffield scholarships as long as the individual does not become fully funded, for tuition fee purposes, as a result of the sum of these awards.
  • The scholarships will take the form of a tuition fee reduction only.
  • Students must be self-funding and classified as overseas for tuition fee purposes.
  • The scholarship will not be awarded where partial funding is applicable from an external body and there is an agreement already in place between the external body and the University of Sheffield to offer a tuition fee discount to the student.
  • The scholarships are for full-time and part-time students only. Students studying online or via distance learning are not eligible for the scholarships.
  • Part-time students will receive the full value of a one year of scholarship split pro rata over the duration of an equivalent single full-time academic year.

ANU Undergraduate Scholarships for International Students in Australia, 2017

Australian National University (ANU) College of Business & Economics is offering up to two undergraduate scholarships for international students. Scholarships will be awarded to students who are applying for admission to an undergraduate program offered by the College for the first time.
ANU is a world-leading university in Australia’s capital. Their focus is on research as an asset and an approach to education.
All applicants, whether domestic or international, must provide evidence that their English language ability meets the minimum requirements for admission.
Course Level: Scholarships are available to pursue undergraduate degree program.
Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded in all subjects available at ANU College of Business and Economics.
Scholarship Award: The Scholarships will cover the full (100 per cent) international student tuition fee cost each year, for the minimum standard full-time duration of the scholars’ chosen undergraduate program, excluding an Honours Year. The scholarship is available to students completing a single or combined degree within the College only.

Eligibility: The Scholarships shall be available to an applicant who:
